Add a little air!
Perfect EQ for adding a little air to Female Vocals, Acoustic Guitar and complete mixes. The fixed points work well on most things.

Fits in perfectly..
The EQ4 is just dialed in at the perfect points. I used to own a Night Pro EQ3D and somehow missed this UAD version. Well its a real pleasure to have this back, and as many as my CPU will handle! I see folks complaining here, but I got mine for $54 over Christmas, and I would prefer saving my main CPU resources for other things. This thing sound fabulous! Its a tool I must have.

Still trying to find a place for this one
I have no experience with the original hardware so can't comment there. For my mixes, I am still searching for the right place for this plug in. It's not proving to be the slam dunk, try-it-first-every-time plug in for EQ that say the LA2 emulations are for peak reduction, at least for me.
Maybe with some time I'll figure it out. The "Air" feature is interesting, but sometimes sounds a bit harsh to me. Still waiting for UA to bring on an EQ that I'll go to first time for whatever I need to do, don't think this one is that one.

The Maag EQ4 instantly showed me which direction to go. Great on drum sounds, post-editing and or giving edge and harmonic drive to your tracks. The air lift is fantastic. UA did a great job emulating this from the original hardware! Tops

No magic, simple effectiveness, great.
Maag EQ4® EQ Plug-In has been one of my best acquisitions this year (2015). I generally do Latin Music (Cuban Music more specifically) and with this EQ is ridiculously easy to get great sound of my acoustic pianos, usually samples. Thank you for bringing to UAD, my old Mac Pro needs all the "possible assistance in terms of process."

Great little powerful EQ. The fixed frequency were selected with great musicality in mind and the AIR band opens up the top end on any track in mixing, or even in mastering. The Maag doesn't work on every sound source, but no other EQ sounds like it does. When you find a source to use it on, there are few alternatives. Dynamite top end!

It's very smooth and transparent, I use it on Vocal, Piano, Guitar. There is nothing to complain about this EQ.

I've never used the hardware, so I cannot vouch for this plugins accuracy in that regard. I've used this plugin a little bit now, and it's quite interesting. I like it. It's different. Very different. It always takes me time to find out how to really use new gear and plugins as if they were second nature. Allot like learning a new scale and trying to implement it into your improvisation. This EQ has some very specific bands they have selected for you. Somewhat odd if you ask me. They all sound "good" though. The Air band is really great and really where its at for me on this plugin. The sub and 40hz are great too. So far this is a low low hz and high up hz EQ.

And i check this plugins with native one.
And it sound the SAME so disappointed i wish i can return them and take some other plugins that UA really make (code and algorithm stuff)

MAAG-eq4 ... liking it
I spent some time comparing this to both the legacy and current version of UADs pultec. I basically just looped a male vocal and scrutinized how they all reacted with similar cuts/boosts in the mids and highs. The thing that imediately struck me was how open the maag 4 sounded compared to the legacy pultec. The current pultec was impressive (Ive read reviews where peeps cant tell between the the new and legacy..) and comparable to the maag but I was surprised how the details around the vocals were revealed in different ways by all the three eqs. I have a few eq plugins from uad and other providers but I have to say the maag-eq4 is easily one of the best for musical sounding adjustments.... great top end and low end heft is there if wanted

Breathe some life into the sound
Definitely breathes some life into the sound.
It somehow boosts the level too much, though; e.g., take a piano track that has no sub, and crank up the sub knob, and you'll hear the volume rise. Not a huge fan of that.

This might just be the best eq on the UA platform. If you're a console type, this plug just feel's so familiar. An absolute must!!

You've got to try this amazing EQ on your 2 bus. With a few small movements, things really start to clear up and come alive, it's outstanding.

No mixes from me not including Maag EQ4. A must buy!
